The CoCo Coir Pot is a biodegradable cultivation pot made of plant(CoConut) fibers. It is used for horticulture, in ornamental plant, vine and tree nurseries, as well as for the domestic gardening market. It has exceptionally high permeability to water, air and roots. CoCo Coir Pot is used by those looking for faster cultivation, an excellent root system and re-establishment without any shock from transplanting.

Advantages of CoCo Coir Pots.

The CoCo Coir Pot is easily Bio Degradable and transforms into Organic Matter in due course Containers impermeable to roots all cause deformation to the roots. The severity of this depends on the shape of the pot and the development of the plants. The most common problem is coiling of roots, roots gathering in corners, roots growing upwards, crushed roots, etc.
When plants are grown in a CoCo Coir Pot, the roots quickly penetrate the pot walls. Contact with the air stops the roots from growing, root buds start to appear and secondary roots start to develop throughout the pot. This phenomenon is known as "aerial root prunning".
The volume of the pot is used 100% by a dense network of root hairs of the plant . In containers with impermeable walls, a few very long roots use all the area around the pot.

When a plant grown in a CoCo Coir Pot is planted or repotted, without removing the pot, the dormant root buds set during aerial containment are immediately activated. There is no shock from transplanting, this difference is particularly marked when ground conditions are difficult (cold, drought, adverse season, etc.).
There is no deformity in the root system, the plant establishes easily and settles into the soil better. This is particularly important for perennials.

Ideally, the coco peat has to go degenerate further to actually work with the plant correctly, but by then much of the structure is lost and the usable time in situ is severely shortened. While later stages of coco degradation are very acceptable as a soil amendment, it is not suitable as a sole growing medium. However, the structural problems are just a small part of the issue.

Coco peat increases the porosity of the potting mix. This helps to keep the soil loose and airy helping in better root growth. Better root growth results in better plant growth and higher yield.

Coco peat increases the water holding capacity of the potting mix even as it increases the porosity of the soil. This ensures that the plant does not suffer from overwatering or underwatering.

High porosity, high water holding capacity and high cation exchange capacity together mean that the quantity of coco peat required per plant can be very less.

Coco peat has excellent properties that make it a very forgiving hydroponic (soilless) medium. Being an organic medium it has high Cation Exchange Capacity allowing nutrients to be absorbed and released to the plants according to their need.

It improves the water holding capacity (more than 5 times its dry weight) contributing towards increased soil moisture.
The bulk density of both the sub surface (15-30 cm) sioil is reduced to considerable extent with the application composted coir pith.
Composted coir dust contains all plant nutrient elements and it can provide a supplemental effect along with inorganic fertilizers.
There is improvement in cation exchange capacity of soils, where composted coir pith is applied.
Coir pith compost application increased the soil native microflora because of addition of humic materials.
Ammonification, nitrification and nitrogen fixation are increased due to improved microbiological activity.
Application of coir pith (coco peat) compost
It is recommended that 1 kg of composted coir pith per square feet of land irrespective of the raised.
Is is advised that composted coir pith should be applied basally before take up the sowing.

Coir Peat or coir pith is the by product which arises during the extraction of coir fibre from the coconut husk. It is used as a growing medium and/or as a soil conditioner (potting soil mixture) in horticulture, floriculture, landscaping and domestic gardens. Coir Peat is ideal as a growing medium / soil conditioner for all soil types. Because of its fibrous nature it will break up the heavies of clay soils, making it more friable and allowing free drainage. It is also ideal for use in light and sandy soils where, because of its sponge-like structure, it retains large quantities of water and oxygen and helps in preventing leaching of vital nutrients. We can produce coir peat blocks according to our customers' requirement i.e. with different quantities of nutrients mixed.

Presently we are manufacturing Coir Peat in the following forms:

  • Block - 5 kg
  • Bricks - 650 gm, 500 gm, 250 gm
  • Grow Bags / Planks - 100 cm x 20 cm x 4 cm, 100 cm x 18 cm x 4 cm
  • Ready mix 45 litre bags
  • Easy fill grow bags
